Welcome Butterflies & Spring!

Tuesday, March 16, 2021

Butterfly Bouquet became available on March 2nd just in time for Spring weather in my little corner of the world. When the dogwoods bloom here, I know Spring has arrived! I love seeing all the white and pink dogwoods in full bloom and know all the colorful azaleas will soon follow.

The Butterfly Brilliance stamp set and coordinating Brilliant Wings dies will carry over to the new upcoming Annual Catalog scheduled to be released in May 4, 2021.

Along with bright, cheery colors, prints, and butterflies, today's card introduces a mini slimline card for a fresh take on card layouts and uses a standard small envelope found in the office supply section of your favorite store.  This card goes together rather quickly.  Before you know it, you'll be sending one to everyone you know!

For the mini slimline, you'll need:
 ✂ Butterfly Brilliance Bundle
 ✂ 6 x 6" Butterfly Bijou DSP
✂ a card base of 6-1/2 x 6-1/4" solid colored card stock (I used Melon Mambo)
 ✂ 3 x 6" cover accent printed paper
✂ die cut medium and small butterfly cut from 6 x 6" Butterfly Bijou DSP
✂ detailed medium butterfly die cut from solid colored card stock
✂ 7/8 x 3-3/8" solid card stock for the greeting base layer
✂ 3/4 x 3-1/4" white card stock for greeting top layer
6 Treasured Tags Pick A Punch
✂ 3 x 6" white card stock for inside card
✂ 1 x 6" Butterfly Bijou DSP for envelope flap
✂ rhinestone basic jewels to decorate greeting tag
 ✂ multipurpose liquid glue

Begin by scoring the solid card stock base at 3-1/4" on the 6-1/2" side.  Attach the 3 x 6" piece of accent printed paper to the front of the card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (or your preferred adhesive). Attach a detailed medium butterfly cut from the 6 x 6" Butterfly Bijou DSP.  Cut a medium detailed butterfly cut from solid colored card stock.  Run a thin bead of glue along body of butterfly and place over printed butterfly.  Once solid butterfly has dried, bend wings up to give the butterfly some dimension and attach completed unit to the front of the card.  Using the Treasured Tags Pick A Punch trim the ends of the solid colored greeting base layer and white greeting top layer. Stamp the greeting on the white card stock greeting top layer in the coordinating ink color of the greeting base layer card stock.  Apply multipurpose glue to the back of the stamped greeting and apply to the colored layer.  Apply multipurpose glue to the back of the colored card stock greeting unit and attach completed unit to card front.  Apply embellishments if desired.  Apply multipurpose glue to one side of the 3 x 6" piece of white card stock and attach to inside of the card.  Apply multipurpose glue to the small butterfly cut from 6 x 6" Butterfly Bijou DSP and attach to inside of card.  Finally, apply 1 x 6" strip of Butterfly Bijou DSP to the flap of the small business envelope.  Trim strip to envelope flap shape.

That's it! Your card is ready to go!  I hope you enjoyed making this card as much as I did.  I really liked having a different card layout that was quick and easy especially if I needed something on short notice.
