Slide and Lock

Tuesday, February 23, 2021

First of all, welcome to the adventure!  I'm excited to get started and am looking forward to sharing card ideas, techniques, and a few "why did I buy that" segments.

Today's Slide and Lock card looks difficult but is actually quite easy.  It whips up in no time with very few supplies.

For printable instructions, click tams# 56976.

To make the Slide and Lock card you will need:

Cut the Rococo Rose in half to make a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2" card base. Score the base 2-1/8" in from each side and fold to meet in the middle. (This makes a traditional gate fold card.)

Cut the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper (DSP) to make two strips of 1-7/8 x 5-1/4" and attach to each outside flap.

To make the slider, cut 5 pieces of Basic White Cardstock into 3 x 3" squares. Score 2 squares at 1-1/2" and fold in half.  Apply tear & tape along out edges and at the folds.  (You will use 4 strips per folded square.)

Place folded white squares spine to spine and attach a 3 x 3" unfolded square to both top and bottom.  This makes the slider mechanism.  Slide this over the card front, making sure the edges of the gate fold card fit right inside of the slider.

Decorate the 3 x 3" white square with a fussy cut image from Paper Blooms DSP and a sentiment of your choice and attach to the 3-1/4 x 3-1/4" piece of Rococo Rose cardstock.  Then attach these two layers to the 3-1/2 x 3-1/2" piece of Blushing Bride cardstock.

Decorate the 4 x 5-1/4 piece of white card stock to your liking and adhere to the inside of the card.

Fold flaps towards the center.  Slide decorated mechanism over "rails".  Your Slide & Lock card is now complete and ready to send.
